Lomo is a smartphone widget app for Lomography that brings the spontaneity of analog photography into a more authentic way of sharing real moments with friends.
Goal
The goal is to translate Lomography’s core values—spontaneity, experimentation, imperfection, and human connection—into a contemporary digital experience. The project aims to redefine photo sharing by prioritizing meaningful interactions over visibility and engagement metrics.
Concept
The concept shifts the focus from content publishing to personal relationships. By removing public feeds, algorithms, and social validation mechanisms, the experience encourages genuine sharing and transforms photography into a direct and intimate communication tool.
Strategy
Built around the “One Shot” principle, every photo is automatically shared with chosen contacts immediately after it is taken. These shared moments populate a continuously updated visual stream that can also be viewed through a dynamic widget on the smartphone screen.
Key features include:
1. Lomography-inspired photo filters.
2. Instant photo sharing.
3. Dynamic lock screen widget with real-time updates.
Design
The visual identity translates Lomography’s experimental spirit into a modern mobile experience. Immersive imagery, dynamic layouts, and references to physical photo boards create a sense of closeness and authenticity. The design system extends across digital touchpoints, ensuring a cohesive and recognizable brand experience.
